Prestwick Airport (PIK)
Prestwick Airport is one of the lesser known airports in Scotland, despite being located a mile outside of Prestwick and just 32 miles from the centre of Glasgow. It has been open since 1935 but began as a training airfield rather than a commercial airport. That changed in the 1960s when an expansion plan was carried out and changed the purpose of the airport. It is still developing today and is actually the largest commercial airfield in Scotland so it may only be a matter of time until it begins to overhaul Edinburgh, Aberdeen and Glasgow in terms of passengers.

Prestwick Airport now sees 3 million passengers a year passing through, even though only four airlines operate in the main and only terminal. Those airlines are currently Ryanair, Transavia, Wizzair and Aer Arann, and the routes they take are spread throughout the UK and Europe.
The Prestwick Airport claim to fame is that it is alleged to be the only place in the UK that ever hosted Elvis Presley. However, past visitors aside, the airport has much to offer visitors today in the way of facilities.
